Privacy notice

This notice says what personal data Project Sky (the game server, its launcher and this website) keeps, why, for how long and on what legal basis, and what your rights are under the GDPR (Regulation (EU) 2016/679) and the Hungarian Info Act (Act CXII of 2011).

Your Project Sky account

Data
username, email address, password (only as a scrypt hash, we never see the password), the time and IP address of the registration and of the last login, staff role, rules quiz result, when the password was last changed

logging in, running your account, enforcing bans

performing the contract (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)): without it we cannot run your account

Characters and play

Data
character names and appearance, items, money and bank account, property, vehicles, faction membership, skills, play time, the game's records (purchases, transfers, fines, sentences)
Purpose
the game itself: your character's life is kept by the server

performing the contract (GDPR Article 6(1)(b)): without it we cannot run your account

Login attempts

Data
time, username, result, IP address (in the game and on this website)
Purpose
protection against password guessing (lockout after failed attempts)

Game sessions

Data
start and end of a session, IP address, Project Zomboid username, the character played
Purpose
showing who is online, investigating abuse

Logins on this website

Data
the time of the login and of its last use, IP address, a random token in a cookie (we keep only its fingerprint)

keeping you logged in on the account pages, and showing where else you are logged in

until you log out, at most 12 hours; an hour without use ends it sooner

Moderation

Data
bans and admin jail (reason, length, staff member; for an IP ban the IP address), the staff's actions

Game server logs

Who else handles the data

The data is stored on the servers of our hosting provider, who as a processor may only handle it on our instructions. We sell or hand over personal data to nobody.

Cookies

This website sets a single cookie, and only when you log in to your account: it keeps you logged in (it is needed for that, so we do not ask for consent), and it goes when you log out, after 12 hours at most. We use no analytics or third-party content; even the fonts come from our own server. Links to Discord or other sites take you to services with notices of their own.

Age limit

Project Sky is for people aged 16 and over. If we learn that a younger player has registered, we delete the account.

Your rights

You may ask us for:

  • access to the data we keep about you, and a copy of it
  • correcting inaccurate data
  • erasing your data (deleting your account)
  • restricting processing
  • receiving your data in a machine-readable format
  • objecting to processing based on legitimate interest

Send your request to the email address above, from the email address of your account if you can. We answer within a month.

If you think we handle your data unlawfully, you can complain to the Hungarian data protection authority, or go to court:
