Download and install
The launcher does it all: it installs the exact game version, keeps the mod up to date and starts the game connected to the server.
Project Sky launcher
Windows 10 and 11
Opening soon
Project Sky is in closed testing. The launcher and the manual install can be downloaded from the launch.
You need to own Project Zomboid on Steam or GOG.
The launcher is not code-signed yet, so Windows may warn you (“Windows protected your PC”): click “More info”, then “Run anyway”.
What does the launcher do?
- It installs Project Zomboid 42.20.4 into a folder of its own: your Steam or GOG game stays untouched, and a game update cannot break anything.
- On Steam, DepotDownloader downloads the game: you type your password and Steam Guard code into its own window, the launcher never sees them.
- On GOG it copies your installed game, after checking the version.
- At every start it checks the mod's files and downloads only what changed.
- It remembers your Project Zomboid login and fills in the game's connect window.
- It starts the add-on of the internet car radio.
Manual install
For Linux and macOS, or to set the game up by hand. Every update needs the new zip.
The manual install can be downloaded from the launch.

The game version
You need Project Zomboid 42.20.4 (revision b0bbce05d5): no other version can join the server.
Steam
Steam always installs the newest version, so download the exact one from the Steam console: open steam://open/console in a browser and type
download_depot 108600 108604 4216043979586241678Steam prints where it saved the game: start it from that folder.
GOG
In GOG Galaxy, on the game's page: “Manage installation”, “Configure”, “Versions”, and pick 42.20.4.

The mod
Unzip the manual install and copy its ZRP folder into the game's mods folder, replacing any older copy completely:
%USERPROFILE%\Zomboid\mods - 3
Start
Start the game with these options (Steam: Library, Project Zomboid, Properties, Launch options). -nosteam is required: the server runs without Steam.
-nosteam +connect play.projectsky.life:16261Or from the game's folder:
ProjectZomboid64.exe -nosteam +connect play.projectsky.life:16261 - 4
The car radio
On Windows only the launcher can start the radio add-on. Without it everything else works, only the car radio stays silent.
Logging in
- 01
When it connects, the game asks for its own account: a username and a password. The first time you can choose any: this creates your Project Zomboid account on the server, so remember it.
- 02
The launcher remembers it (top right, “Save login”) and fills it in for you next time.
- 03
Then, in the game, you register your Project Sky account (username, email, password): your characters belong to it.
